Welcome to Old Town/Park City Proper
Rich with history and vibrant culture, tucked among some of the preeminent ski-resorts in the world
The vibrant heart of Park City, Utah, the neighborhoods of Old Town and Park City Proper are both historical gems and expertly kept homages to the town's Victorian mining past. Also known as the historic district, Old Town is ultra-conveniently located between the resorts of Deer Valley and Park City Mountain. The area’s main draw is its dazzling Main Streets, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy the history-rich, beautiful architecture and unique shopping.
First settled in the late 19th century by Mormon pioneers and incorporated in 1894, silver was found shortly thereafter. The town’s original growth can be attributed to the presence of Silver King Mine, and it isn’t until the 1960s that skiing comes to Park City and creates a booming tourism industry in the area. Subsequent resorts began to open, and now, Old Town and Park City Proper remain charming pieces of the city’s past that now include upscale dining and shopping, beautiful historical structures and homes, world-class lodging, and a thriving arts scene—all of which supports the towns over 600,000 annual visitors.
Park City Proper encompasses Old Town within its boundaries, along with the areas of Prospector, Aerie, and Thaynes Canyon. Here, you’ll find resplendent remodels of historic miners’ cottages, 19th-century townhomes with modernized interiors, luxe penthouses in ski resort hotels, and of course, magnificent multi-million dollar estates tucked into the mountains with incredible amenities and ski-to access.
